07:30am Pick Up and Kampala City Drive
Your guide will pick you up from your designated pick-up point in Kampala and begin your city exploration. Drive through the heart of Kampala, passing Independence Square, a landmark associated with Uganda’s independence, with a short stop for photographs. Continue past the Uganda Parliament before heading towards the historic Kasubi tombs.
09:00 AM – Kasubi Tombs | ~1 Hour
Explore the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the traditional burial grounds of the Kabakas (Kings) of Buganda. Discover the impressive grass-thatched huts and royal tomb structures, learning about their traditional construction, cultural significance, and the kings buried within the site. Your guide will bring the history and traditions of the Buganda Kingdom to life.
10:15 AM – Kabaka’s Palace | ~1 Hour
Visit the Kabaka’s Palace, the official residence of the Buganda Kingdom’s monarch. explore the palace grounds and learn about the history of the Buganda Kingdom, and its important role in Uganda’s history. You will also have an opportunity to visit the historic underground torture chambers, which provide a deeper and more sobering insight into Uganda’s past. The experience also includes views of Bulange, the Buganda Parliament, and a drive along the historic Royal Mile (Kabaka Anjagala Road), one of Kampala’s most significant routes associated with the Buganda Kingdom and its royal heritage.
11:15 AM – Uganda National Mosque | ~1 Hour
Visit the Uganda National Mosque, also known as Gaddafi Mosque, one of Kampala’s most prominent landmarks. Explore its impressive architecture before climbing the minaret for sweeping panoramic views of Kampala, with its distinctive hills, neighborhoods, and busy city streets stretching into the distance.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM – Lunch at a Local Restaurant
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy a selection of traditional Ugandan dishes, including the famous Luwombo, a beloved local dish traditionally prepared by slow-cooking meat, chicken, or fish with a rich, flavorful sauce wrapped in banana leaves. International options can also be available, depending on preference. Relax and enjoy an authentic taste of Uganda before continuing with the afternoon activities.
02:15 PM – Uganda Martyrs Shrine | ~1 Hour
After lunch head to the Uganda Martyrs Shrine at Namugongo, an important religious and historical site commemorating the Uganda Martyrs, who were killed between 1885 and 1887 because of their religious beliefs. Learn about their stories and sacrifice, and the importance of Namugongo as a major pilgrimage destination visited by people from Uganda and around the world.
03:30 PM – Bahá’í House of Worship | ~45 Minutes
Visit the Bahá’í House of Worship, the only Bahá’í temple on the African continent. Surrounded by peaceful gardens on Kikaya Hill, the temple offers a tranquil escape from the energy of the city. Take time to appreciate its distinctive architecture, landscaped gardens, and panoramic surroundings.
05:00 PM – Local Craft Market | ~30 Minutes
End the day's sightseeing at a local craft market, where you can browse a vibrant collection of Ugandan handicrafts, including traditional artwork, woven products, wood carvings, fabrics, jewellery, and locally made souvenirs. It is a perfect opportunity to discover Uganda’s creativity and take home a meaningful reminder of your journey.
05:30 PM – Departure and Drop-Off
